November 5th 2014

Missing something you didn't know you had. Missing everything about it and yet not knowing everything about…him. My heart is heavy and my cheeks stained as I write down these words. The feelings, emotions and thoughts we’ve had over the course of the last week are difficult and surreal to describe. On November 4th, I found out I was pregnant, and losing the baby. Neither of us had any idea that I was pregnant and now we didn't even have a chance to celebrate the joy of finding out. The next three days were spent in a hospital room; only minutes after finding out, we were in a room separated from the outside world, living in every moment as it happened. It was the most scary, intense, heart wrenching and life changing event we have been through. After hours of seemingly never ending pain physically and emotionally, at 11:39 am on the 5th of November, Carlisle Scott-Sextro was born. But he was already gone before I delivered. At 20 weeks old he came in and out of our lives faster than anything. We’ve not stopped crying for him or thinking about him, our son, our first child. I don’t know when life will begin to feel normal again, but I know it’s forever different. Forever changed by this tiny little boy whom we will never stop loving.

Here We Go Again

The last time I posted about my upcoming shop was over a month ago. This I know. Just like everyone else though, life caught up with me and I have fallen behind of what I wanted to have in stock to open up shop.

Either a family thing would come up or I would forget to stop by the craft store to get more felt backing and fabric glue or I would leave all my materials spewn upon my bed to awake at 4am, finding I'd fallen asleep or I would run out of time in between coming home at 6pm, making dinner and still having a bit of time to spend with that certain guy in my life.

You know what? Sometimes I really dislike being an adult.

But! Let's not get into that conversation now, shall we?

Most of my photos are ready to be posted for the shop opening, I just have a few more to photograph and then work on pricing. Be on the look out for Ren Dear to open within the next week..or two. And for a giveaway and deals happening on a dear friends blog as well.

Announcing...

In just a couple short weeks, I will open my embroidery shop that I have been working on for as long as I can remember. It took a lot of brainstorming, but I finally named it and I think it's pretty clever and catchy.

My big sis Micaela also agrees and helped me decide on how exactly to word it. You see, Ren is what Caela calls me and what Felix will probably wind up doing so as well. And I look forward to being called Auntie Ren, so so much. Not only do I love deer, but so does Caela and I really wanted to include that in the shop somehow and I cannot believe it took me so long to come up with Ren Dear.

This blog may very well be getting renamed too, but I'm still debating. What do ya'll think? I'm ready to re-vamp this little corner of the internet and I think this could be the start of it.

Also, if any of you already have something you'd like, email me at the aforementioned address. I've started accepting custom orders, especially with Valentines Day around the corner. I'm working on a collection of embroideries that feature lyrics from great love songs that will be available upon opening that I'm quite excited about.

Well, that's it for now! I've got to get back to sewing my little hands into oblivion. The shop opening right now is aimed for February 2nd, but it may be the 4th. It all depends on when my business cards get to me. So, be on the lookout for another announcement within the next couple weeks!

Thrifting with Gina

One weekend, back in November, one of my best friends and I had an awesome Saturday full of thrifting and memories.

We hit up the farmers market first and got some free bagels from a great French bakery and Gina picked up a lovely piece of pottery as well.

This puppy was at the farmers market and he was quite the adorable little thing, let me tell you. My family bred English Springer Spaniels (like the one in the photos above) and they will always hold a certain place in my heart. Plus, there's just something about puppy kisses, isn't there?

After the farmers market, we headed to the main event of the day - the outdoor sale at the antique mall I thrift at frequently. It was AWESOME. We found quite a few treasures; some went home with us, others had to be left behind. We did score quite a bit of jewelry though. I found a pretty bracelet and pin while Gina found that killer birds nest pin.

That little box just wouldn't open up no matter how hard we tried!

I thought of you, Caela, in your search for a children's book holder like you've seen on Etsy. Wish I could afford to ship it to you!

Usually on the second Saturday of the month when the antique mall holds its sale, I forget about it. But I'm very happy I remembered then and spent a wonderful, warm November day with a great friend.
